Meet the Groove Team 👋

How It All Started 📖

In 2020, Groove’s co-founders Sruli Rapps, Josh Greene and Tova Safra were freelancing and started feeling isolated in their work.

Having worked in coffee shops and digital coworking spaces in the past with people around them, they missed the feeling of having a support network and friends around them at work. With community-oriented backgrounds that ranged from organizing music festivals and meditation groups, Josh, Sruli and Tova started to build a space where they could be more human at work again. They envisioned a space uniquely for the solopreneurs of today — a space where they could accomplish great things with the support of others.

Enter Groove: an energizing digital coworking community where you can get sh*t done and meet some pretty rad people while you're at it.

Who We Are 🏄🏻‍♂️

How I get into the flow:

Clear my desk, put on some noise-canceling headphones, and listen to lo-fi beats like Lofi Girl on YouTube.

Outside of work, I get energy from:

Being out in nature or at the beach, reading a biography of a creative or business leader or exploring an experimental meditation practice.

What I accomplish in Groove:

I'm constantly pulled in lots of different directions in my work. Groove is sacred for the important deep work whether creative or strategic. My phone is on do not disturb!

How I get into the flow:

With creative work, I sit down and let my mind wander a bit and there it is. With other types of work, I start a Groove, or even watch a short film, or I’ll make a nice hot drink.

Outside of work, I get energy from:

I go on long walks, do yoga every day, cook food, and generally try to get fresh air. I also listen to podcasts while doing chores.

What I accomplish in Groove:

I do a lot of art and design work in Grooves. It’s a good way to block time for those things without interruptions. I use Grooves for life-admin too.

How I get into the flow:

By making plans for the day with checkboxes I can tick off, listening to music, and by Grooving! (Seriously, I’m not just saying that...)

Outside of work, I get energy from:

Well, outside of work I’m usually working on my podcast, Babble on Talmud. I’m either preparing or recording.

What I accomplish in Groove:

I build Groove in Groove 🤯 I also spend a few Grooves a day preparing my podcast content.

How I get into the flow:

Light a candle, sit by a window, grab something yummy to sip on, write a to-do list, and jam out to indie pop music.

Outside of work, I get energy from:

Exploring the streets of NYC, listening to live music, reading outside, playing board games, and bringing people together.

What I accomplish in Groove:

I write, reach out to community members, build experiments, and organize to-dos…all while in great company!

How I get into the flow:

Flow is very important to me, so I have a few techniques: Make coffee, look at tech news, and decide on music for the morning. Then, I start work.

Outside of work, I get energy from:

I enjoy cooking, watching movies/trashy TV with my family, and spending time with our dog, Millie.

What I accomplish in Groove:

I'm a big fan of the focus/break style of work. Groove helps me get into a deeper flow and helps me pace myself throughout the day so I'm not brain dead at the end.

How I get into the flow:

A steaming cup of java is a must. Sit down at my desk, put on some movie soundtracks (Pride & Prejudice is the best), and create a great to-do list.

Outside of work, I get energy from:

Walking my Saint Bernard (Penny), beach volleyball classes, going to concerts, and meeting with my book club.

What I accomplish in Groove:

Deep work like tone of voice decks, brand strategy docs or web copywriting. And admin work like organizing my day, catching up on Slack, or sending invoices.

How I get into the flow:

I like to take advantage of the fact that I naturally have a lot of energy in the morning. So, I wake up, make a cup of coffee, write my to-do list, rank my priorities, then dive in!

Outside of work, I get energy from:

I love exploring NYC’s art and literary scenes. I go to gallery openings, poetry readings, and museums to renew my creative energy. I also swim 🏊🏻

What I accomplish in Groove:

Groove helps me keep all aspects of my life and business in balance. I work on creative writing projects, finish work for my freelance social media clients, and edit articles for Groove’s Medium channel 🧡

How I get into the flow:

I always start with a grounding meditation and then jot down all of the little things that are floating around my brain. Some lo-fi beats or native flute keep me in flow.

Outside of work, I get energy from:

Being outdoors in nature, running and live music fuel me up!

What I accomplish in Groove:

I like to get my smaller work tasks done in Groove so that I don't get distracted between each one. I also love setting aside time for writing and personal projects.

Thanks for getting to know us! We’ll see you in the Groove 💃🏼
