Everything you might want to know about Groove’s final chapter.
1. Wait—what’s happening? Is Groove shutting down?
Yes. Groove will be officially closing on June 30, 2025. That means the app will go offline by the end of that day.
2. Why is Groove closing?
There’s no big drama, just an honest recognition that this chapter is coming to a close. While Groove has been a meaningful way for people to connect and co-work , it hasn’t grown in the way it needed to make it feasible to continue. As a result we’ve decided to sunset the app.
3. Will I still be able to use the app until June 30?
Yes! The app will remain fully functional through the end of June but we will discontinue new signups at the end of May. We encourage you to keep Grooving, just as you normally would, and take part in the community events we’re hosting this month but be sure to cancel your subscription by June 30th so you are not billed further.
4. What happens to my account and data after that?
After June 30, we will discontinue support of the app. There may be a brief period of time where the app will still work but it will eventually be shutdown completely.
The app will remain on your device unless you manually delete it. However:
- You won’t receive updates or support after June 30.
- The features of the app will stop working or be broken.
In short: Groove may keep working for a while, but we can’t guarantee its functionality past June. Be sure to cancel your subscription by June 30th to prevent future billing.
If you do have any questions about your data and groove history please email us @ hello@groove.ooo
5. Will I be charged again?
Apple Store/iOS
For iOS users, you won’t need to cancel your subscription manually. Apple’s system will automatically stop billing once we remove the subscription from sale, so you won’t be charged after your current period ends.
If you were still on an annual plan, you’ll automatically receive a prorated refund. Please note that it can take up to two weeks to process.
Google Play Store
Google Play manage all aspects of billing and they require users to cancel subscriptions themselves, even for apps that have been removed from the app store and are no longer supported.
Be sure to cancel your subscription by June 30th.
6. Can I get a refund?
If you have been billed after June 30, you can request a refund directly from the App Store/Google Play Store. Please use the links below for accessing your refund.
Apple Support
Some purchases from the App Store, iTunes Store, Apple Books, or other Apple services might be eligible for a refund. You can use any device with a web browser to request a refund.

7. Can I stay in touch with other Groovers?
Yes! Be sure to update your social links on the Groove app and review your Orbit connections so your Groover friends can find you and stay connected before the app closes.
8. Are there any meet-ups or events before things wrap?
Yes! We’re looking into hosting community events (mostly virtual) but we’ll confirm exactly what’s happening in the coming weeks via email and in app on the bulletin boards.
In the meantime, if you are in NYC the weekend of May 24 we’ll be doing an chill, in person meet-up. You can sign up here: MEET-UP-NYC
9. What tools do you recommend post-Groove?
We're working on options for where we can re-home the entire community. We’ll provide more clarity in the upcoming weeks on where that will be and how you can access that.
10. I’m really sad about this. Can I talk to someone?
Absolutely. We know this is more than just an app, it’s been a real part of people’s routines and lives.
Randy (our Head of Community) is hosting open office hours daily, and you can always DM him in app to set up a chat or email us at hello@groove.ooo.
